A Tornado Hit Jefferson City Last Night

Jefferson City was hit hard just before midnight last by a Tornado.  The national Weather Service described it as a wedge tornado, meaning it was wider in its funnel than it was tall. This morning Governor Mike Parsons said it was a violent storm with winds over 160 mph and debris was lifted over 1300 feet in the air.  They continue to search through the rubble of buildings and houses destroyed by the storm. There was several reports of people being trapped inside homes and buildings. Several Businesses were destroyed and several other suffered heavy damage. Some multiple story buildings are now just one story.  There were reports of 22 tornados in Missouri on Wednesday and there are three confirmed fatalities in Golden City.
