United Way Disaster Recovery Efforts Underway In Missouri

UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI PROVIDES DISASTER RECOVERY
INFORMATION
(Jefferson City, MO, May 23, 2019) United Way of Central Missouri is here to help our
community in this time of devastation. The storm and flooding has affected many, and we will
utilize all resources available to help the victims of this terrible tragedy. As the threat of storms
and severe flooding continues for the next several days, we encourage all individuals in the
path of these disasters to remain in safe locations and to continue taking all necessary safety
precautions. Please stay tuned to all appropriate media, government and agency entities for
updates regarding such threats.
GET HELP
If you are in immediate danger, please call 9-1-1. If you or someone you know needs
assistance or resources, call the American Red Cross Central & Northern Missouri Chapter at
1-800-RED-CROS, or dial 2-1-1 (or 1-800-427-4626). A 2-1-1 Specialist will assist in finding
health and human service resources near you. Services include referrals for basic human
needs, physical and mental health resources, and support for all who have been impacted.
2-1-1 is free, accessible 24/7 and completely confidential. Additional information can be found

While first responder personnel and law enforcement continue to assess the damage from the
storms last night, United Way of Central Missouri encourages all individuals wanting to provide
immediate financial assistance to visit the American Red Cross Central & Northern Missouri
Chapter’s website at www.redcross.org.
Cash/check and water donations are being accepted at the United Way of Central Missouri
located at 205 Alameda Drive in Jefferson City. Checks should be made payable to the
American Red Cross Central & Northern Missouri Chapter.

VOLUNTEER
Individuals wanting to volunteer and assist with the community-wide disaster recovery efforts
should visit www.unitedwaycemo.org/volunteer and stay tuned as those volunteer
opportunities and needs continue to be updated. Individuals looking to register as a volunteer
with the American Red Cross will first need a background check and training. To begin that
process, please visit www.redcross.org/volunteer.
