Former Arkansas State Senator Found Dead In Her Randolph County Home

Authorities in Randolph County are investigating the unattended death of former state senator Linda Collins Smith. Smith allegedly died from a gunshot wound at her rural Pocahontas home Tuesday evening.  The Arkansas State police Criminal investigation division has been called in to take over the investigation. She served in both the House and Senate. She was a native of Sharp county and graduated from Williford High School. She was elected to the state senate in district 19 in 2014, which includes eastern Fulton county and all of Izard, Sharp, Independence and Randolph Counties.
