The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that happened on July 4th. According to the report, 911 received a call reporting a father was holding his 12 year old daughter under water at the Huelett access on the Strawberry River. The Sheriff’s Department, Poughkeepsie Fire Department and Spring River Ambulance responded. When they arrived they found the 12 year old unconscious and foaming at the mouth. The girls was flown to a Little Rock Hospital. The Father 29 year old Christopher Cope was arrested after fighting with law enforcement. He is being held awaiting the filing of formal charges for first degree domestic battery, interference with law enforcement, resisting arrest, and intimidating a witness. The Mother, 32 year old Elizabeth Cope was also arrested after fighting with law enforcement and is awaiting the filing of formal charges for first degree endangering the welfare of a minor and interference with a law enforcement officer. Both are being held in Sharp County.
