CHICAGO — STATS has included Missouri State University long snapper Chandler Collins on its 2019 FCS Preseason All-America Football Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Collins, a senior from Springfield’s Glendale High, has been Missouri State’s starting long snapper the last three seasons. He graded out at 94 percent on all long snaps in 2018 and was perfect on field goal and PAT tries. He also posted an exceptional efficiency ratio on PAT, field goal and punt long snaps. Collins registered a pair of special teams tackles and downed six punts his junior season before being named by Phil Steele as an all-conference third-team selection.
Collins is one of 16 players from the Missouri Valley Conference — the most by any FCS league — to be honored by STATS with its preseason laurels. He is also one of two MVFC long snappers, along with first-teamer Bradey Sorenson of South Dakota State, on the All-America list.
Missouri State returns 13 starters, 44 lettermen and 77 total squad members for coach Dave Steckel’s fifth season at the helm of the Bears.
