Two people were injured in a one vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Carter County. According to the Highway Patrol report, 58 year old Michael Kijula of Peidmont and 45 year old Rachel Leuckel of Peidmont both suffered serious injuries when Kijula failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the roadway and hit a tree. Kijula was flown to Barnes Hospital in St Louis and Leuckel was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital. The accident happened on Rt V about a half mile north of Ellsinore.
