An inmate at the Arkansas department of Corrections in Calico Rock has been charged with felony escape. 29 year old Arkeil Daniel Thomas allegedly left a mowing detail in July and ran toward a fence, a officer with the Doc saw him and yelled for him to stop but Thomas continued and the officer fire his weapon attempting to stop him. Thomas cleared the fence and continued running, the officer then fired a second shot and Thomas laid down as instructed. Thomas was not injured in the incident. He is currently serving a 10 year sentence for burglary and now will face additional charges. He is now being held in Varner Supermax Unit In Gould Arkansas.
