A man from Springfield was injured in an accident early Thursday morning east of Thayer. The highway patrol says that 51 year Timothy Byers suffered moderate injuries when he swerved to miss an animal in the roadway and drove off the road and hit a fence and a box culvert. Byers was taken to OMC. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident. The Accident happened around 12:05 Thursday morning on highway 142 about 8 miles east of Thayer.
