Sunday afternoon the West Plains Police Department received a call from person advising there was a suicidal male with a firearm inside a residence on Davidson Street. The caller advised the male had threatened to shoot himself. As Officers were responding to the residence a second caller advised another male inside the residence had taken the firearm and was now threatening to shoot the potentially suicidal male. Officers secured the area and called the subjects out of the residence using a vehicle mounted PA system. Both males exited the residence unarmed and were safely detained. No other persons were present inside the residence. A handgun was recovered inside the residence and was seized for safekeeping. Neither subject wished to cooperate with law enforcement and assist in the prosecution of any crimes committed. One of the males left the premises voluntarily, and no evidence was obtained indicating the subject was suicidal. Neither of the involved parties sustained any injuries, and based on the totality of the circumstances no charges are pending in the matter.
