A man from Thayer has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer near Black Rock, Lawrence County authorities report that Spencer Langston was arrested on suspicion of first degree battery after he allegedly ran from a deputy and when the deputy caught up with him he told the deputy he had a gun. The deputy was injured during a physical altercation with Langston. The deputy was taken to a Jonesboro hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Langston has a criminal history in Arkansas and Missouri, He is being held on $500,000 bond
