Over the past couple of weeks we have reported on a couple of stories about the problems with vaping among the youth. Today we focus on what one area school  is doing to help combat the problem. The Salem Arkansas School District recently installed vaping detectors at the high school. The devices are $1,000 each  and detect particles that are released during vaping. The school bought two and put both in two of the high school restrooms. Authorities say they look like smoke detectors and even if students try to mask it by blowing into their shirt or blowing in the toilet or anywhere in the room it will set off the detector, which sends an email to the principal. The district notified parents and students about the devices but they still average about one vaping suspension every two weeks. They say they plan to purchase more of the devices.
