During the busy holiday season, hundreds of Missourians will pause to remember fallen veterans as part of a national event. On “Wreaths Across America Day” this Saturday, volunteers in all 50 states will place wreaths on veterans’ headstones at more than 16-hundred locations. Eleven ceremonies are planned in Missouri. The mission of Wreaths Across America is “Remember, Honor and Teach,” and David Meyer notes Missourians from all walks of life and all ages are encouraged to participate.

Wreaths Across America started in the early 1990s, with five-thousand wreaths placed at Arlington National Cemetery. In 2018, nearly one-point-eight million wreaths were placed, each with the name of a veteran spoken aloud.
