A Flag Controversy Continues At West Plains School

The Flag Controversy continues at West Plains school, but officials say the rumors of a threat to the school are unfounded. The controversy began last week when a group of youths at the High School passed out flags in support of LGBTQ students, then another group reportedly displayed a confederate flag. Since the incident involved students, the school officials were unable to comment but the incident is still under investigation. This past weekend a Springfield group allegedly said that they would travel to West Plains to show support to the LGBTQ Students, school officials say that rumor is unfounded. Superintendent Dr Lori Wilson issued a statement to parents on Sunday, saying that the threats are not substantiated. A social media post said that a demonstration was planned for Monday Afternoon The post registered several hundred comments. Allegedly the Springfield Group GLSEN was organizing the demonstration. The Group has allegedly rescheduled the demonstration. Additional police officer have been requested at the school when the demonstration is held.
