An Independence county woman faces charges after a shooting the day after Christmas. 54 year old Denise Renee Shands has been arrested on suspicion of first degree battery for allegedly shooting a man as he and his grandmother were watching Christmas Movies. A shotgun was found under Shands bed and a 7 ½ birdshot hull was inside the gun. The victim who’s name has not been released was taken to a local hospital for treatment on a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He had birdshot removed during surgery.
