Former Thayer Resident & Judge William R. Hass Passes Away

Longtime Thayer resident and Judge, Wiliam Ralph Hass passed away earlier this week in Springfield. Judge Hass was a 1954 graduate of Thayer High School, He graduated Southwest Missouri State University in 1958 and Graduated Law School at the University of Arkansas in 1962. He served two years in the United States Army. He married Helen Jeanie Best of Thayer in 1959 and tree children Mary Helen, Melissa Anne and William Tom Hass. In 1964 he began practicing law in Fayetteville Arkansas then moved to Little Rock to serve on the Arkansas Attorney Generals Staff. He returned to Thayer in 1968 and opened a private practice. In 1990 he was elected Associate Circuit Judge for Oregon County and served as judge until January 2003. He retired and moved to Springfield where he served as a senior judge until 2017. Judge Hass was a member of the Junior Chamber Of Commerce, Elks, Rotary, American Legion and Lions Club. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and member of the Arkansas and Missouri Bar, 37th Circuit Bar Association and the committee of Missouri Senior Judges. Funeral services for Judge William Ralph Hass Will be announced at a later time.
