An Independence County man has been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop near Newark. 63 year old Thomas Layton Jr. was arrested after police found marijuana, meth, and narcotics. Layton is charged with furnishing. Possessing or using prohibited articles, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest meth, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $50,000
