
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes tip-toed down the sideline for a game-turning touchdown, added three TD passes, and the Kansas City Chiefs made their first Super Bowl in a half-century by beating the Tennessee Titans 35-24 Sunday for the AFC championship.
At last, for the first time since 1970 and the third time overall, the Chiefs (14-4) are Super Bowl bound.
Adding to the joy of the achievement, coach Andy Reid and owner Clark Hunt accepted the Lamar Hunt Trophy — named after his father — emblematic of the AFC title.
The Tomahawk Chop will be heard at Hard Rock Stadium in the Super Bowl where Kansas City will face the San Francisco 49ers who beat Green Bay in the NFC championship yesterday 37-20.
