Gov. Mike Parson has extended the state’s stay-at-home order until May 3. Parson says he is quote “cautiously optimistic,” that people will be able to go back to work on Monday, May 4. Parson says he made this decision based on the data specific to Missouri regarding the spread of COVID-19. He says the recovery of the state will come in two phases: the first is to protect all healthcare workers and first responders.
According to Parson, the state will complete these two phases by expanding access to testing and personal protection equipment, continuing to monitor hospital spaces and predict any other outbreaks. Parson says the state will gather this information from working with public health officials at a state and national level.
