After the Capitol shut down due to COVID-19 precautions, legislation paused. With the Capitol open again, House representatives are adding dozens of amendments to a few key bills in the hopes they will be able to pass them before the deadline. Rep. Deb Lavender, D-Kirkwood, says omnibus bills should not be passed, as they are unconstitutional if unrelated items are packaged together. Lavender appeared to speak directly to Speaker of the House Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield, when she criticized the strategy.

The regular session for the Missouri House will close at 6 p.m.Friday.
