
West Plains Police report that two cases have been solved.
Case 1
On 03/09/2020, the West Plains Police Department received a call from Burger King in reference to a possible burglary at the restaurant. Officers responded and took the initial report. Officers reported the cash register drawers had been broken and approximately $400.00 dollars had been stolen from the registers. It was also discovered the safe in the manager’s office had also been stolen with an unknown amount of money inside.
A detective responded, processed the crime scene, and took over the investigation. On 04/22/2020, through diligent investigation, five suspects involved with the burglary were identified. Names of the suspects will be released upon the filing of formal charges by the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Case 2
On 05/01/2020, the West Plains Police Department received a call from Heritage Tractor for a report of theft. Upon officer arrival on scene and it was reported a John Deere zero turn lawn mower had been stolen from the business sometime between 04/30/2020 and 05/01/2020. Detectives arrived and processed the scene and took over the investigation.
On 05/05/2020, detectives received information of the location of the lawn mower possibly in Rogersville, MO. Detectives were able to locate and took possession of the lawn mower. Two suspects have been identified in this case and charges are pending.
