During his Thursday press conference, Gov. Mike Parson introduced Dr. Randall Williams saying he has some great news. Williams is the director of Missouri’s Health and Senior Services. He says out of all positive COVID-19 cases in the state, only 129 patients are on ventilators. As of tomorrow or Saturday, Williams says that number could decrease thanks to a large shipment of remdesivir. The drug is currently used experimentally to treat severe cases of the novel coronavirus. Missouri will have 1,800 vials of remdesivir, which Williams says is enough to treat every person on a ventilator.
Williams says around six to 11 vials are needed per patient and that there is no need to prioritize, as there is enough to treat all severe cases in the state.
