
Tuesday, in front of family members, City Council, Mayor Jack Pahlmann, and ranking city officials along with members of the Police Department, four new officers were sworn in as newly commissioned officers of the West Plains Police Department. The new officers are Officer Colter Reid, Officer Whitley Clark, Officer Brent McKemie, and Officer Amanda Ohlau. All four officers graduated the Missouri Sheriff’s Association Training Academy on 07/06/2020. They will begin their formal field training this week.
Three officers were also recognized for their recent promotion to the rank of Corporal at the West Plains Police Department. The promotions include Corporal Shannon Sisney, Corporal Josh Wichowski, and Corporal Wes Stuart. All three will be shift supervisors of various shifts as well as Field Training Officers (FTO).
During the ceremony Officer Brad Jones was awarded a Favorable Occurrence Award for positive interactions with the community and his selflessness when dealing with those who are less fortunate. Officer Ivie Powell was additionally awarded a Favorable Occurrence Award for his actions that resulted in the recovery of stolen vehicles, firearms and the arrest of the criminal who was in possession of them.
