
Firefighters in Walnut Ridge were busy this morning battling a huge fire In the downtown area. The Fire began shortly before 6:30 this morning at a building on West Walnut and Front Streets. The building is occupied by Walnut Ridge Housing Authority and part of it was used for storage. The Lawrence County Library which is just across the alley suffered minor damage in the fire. Multiple Fire Departments responded to the fire and at this time there is no word on how the fire started. Flames at one point were 20 to 25 feet high. Heavy equipment was brought in after the fire to demolish the rest of the building.
