The St. Louis Cardinals lost the opener of a 4 game series with the Twins in Minnesota last night. Carlos Martinez, making his first start since 2018 was roughed up for 6 over 3 2/3 innings, 5 in the second, as the Cards lost 6-3. Tommy Edmonds and Tyler O’Neal homered for the Redbirds. The Cards play at Minnesota again tonight.
Before last nights game, the Cardinals announced that pitcher Miles Mikolas has been sent back to the injured list with a sore arm, that has plagued him all year.
The Kansas City Royals scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning, then gave up 4 in the bottom of the frame, and lost at Detroit 4-3. Whit Merrifield homered for Kansas City. The Royals are at Detroit again tonight.
