After a recount of the August 4th election for Sheriff in Ripley County was completed Thursday, incumbent Mike Barton was declared the winner by two votes. The final totals were 1,309 voted for Barton and 1,307 voted for his challenger Richie Phillips. Since no Democrats were on the ballot in the November election, that means Barton will be sworn in on January 1st to his second four-year term.
