
Three local schools are part of a $9 million grant from the state Emergency Management Agency to build tornado safe rooms. The Gainesville School District will build a safe room capable of holding 930 people. The room will be attached to the middle school building. The safe room will also be used as a multi-purpose space. The Cabool School District will build a safe room that will hold up to 602 people, it will be attached to the middle school and will also serve as music and band classroom. The Summersville school district will build a safe room that will hold 411 people. The building will be built on the elementary campus and will also serve as a multi-purpose space.
