Missouri State men’s basketball coach Dana Ford announced Wednesday (Nov. 11) the receipt of a National Letter of Intent from local standout Isaac Haney to join the Bears next fall.

Haney is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound senior guard, currently enrolled at Kickapoo High School in Springfield. He spent his first three high school seasons at nearby Dora High School where he was named Missouri’s Class 1 Player of the Year each of the past two seasons.

“We are really excited to add a quality person like Isaac to our program,” said Ford. “He is a high-caliber student from a great family, and we are really looking forward to him becoming a Bear.”

In 2019-20, Haney helped lead Dora to a Class 1 state title and 32-2 overall record after averaging 31.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for coach Rick Luna. He also knocked down 114 3-pointers at a 37-percent clip, made 82 percent of his free throws and shot 53 percent overall from the field.

Powered by his 1,055 points as a junior, Haney became Dora’s career scoring leader as a junior while wrapping up all-conference, all-district and all-state accolades for the third straight season.

He scored 25 points for the Falcons in the 2020 state championship game against St. Elizabeth and earned a spot on the Suddenlink Missouri All-State Basketball Team, which includes players from all classes.

As a sophomore, he was part of a 30-2 state runner-up push by Dora that featured 27.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.9 steals per game. He also shot 41-percent from 3-point range with 98 triples and all-state laurels.

Haney was also a pivotal contributor on a 24-6 club his freshman season at Dora, scoring at a 22.5 average with 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.2 steals per outing. He also made 98 3-pointers as a freshman in 2017-18 and posted the second-highest freshman scoring total in state history (675).

In addition to his many athletic honors, Haney also earned all-district honors in quiz bowl, was president of the Beta Club at Dora and was a math relays champion.

Haney played his summer basketball for Yanders Law AAU.
