A Mountain Home Couple Pleaded Guilty To Illegally Attempting To Get PPP Funds

A Mountain Home Couple have pleaded guilty to illegally trying to obtain pandemic relief funds. 44-year-old James Reid and 42-year-old Crystal Payne allegedly applied to the Small Business Administration for payment protection program funds as part of the coronavirus relief and economic securities act. Reid allegedly provided inflated wage and employee data about his business Snowbird Bob LLC and provided falsified tax documents and admitted to laundering the PPP loan proceeds to buy a new vehicle. He also plead guilty to wire fraud for trying to get unemployment benefits for himself and others in Louisiana. Payne plead guilty to false statements made in her own PPP loan application. Sentencing will be at a later date after a pre-sentence investigation. Read faces up to 30 years in prison and up to a $1 million fine, Payne faces up to 5 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
