According to the Howell County Sheriff’s Officer, a 4-year-old child has died due to an accidental shooting.
The sheriff’s office tells us that the child found a handgun in her home and shot herself.
The incident happened Thursday evening on county road 1030 in West Plains, deputies responded to reports of a child that had just shot itself.
The child was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment but later died because of injuries.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office says that this is an ongoing investigation whether to file charges in this case or not.
A name has not been released.
