Arkansas doubles end of fiscal year surplus

According to the Associated Press, the State of Arkansas ended the fiscal year with a surplus of close to $1 billion.

The Department of Finance and Administration fiscal year ended June 30 and totaled $945.7 million, doubling the previous record. 

Arkansas Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson said that Arkansas’ income tax collections were up despite tax cuts during the special legislative session this fall. 

Come fall, Governor Hutchinson said he plans to introduce another round of tax cuts during the legislative session.
