
A Mammoth Spring man is facing charges after stealing a horse.
According to the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Justin Schamel is facing charges of felony theft of property and two felony counts of commercial burglary.
Detective Cham Buchanan with the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office received a report on July 15th that a horse, saddle, and other equipment had been stolen.
The horse was valued at nearly $25,000.
After Detective Buchanan requested and reviewed local businesses’ security camera footage, a local business owner recognized Schamel from working at another business.
When investigators contacted Schamel and his mother, he claimed that the horse was his.
Shamel was taken into custody by Sharp County authorities and is in the County Detention Center.
