The Arkansas Department of Health reported a new record in hospitalizations from COVID-19 on Monday.

In a social media post from Governor Asa Hutchinson when the numbers were released, it said “We continue to see nearly all hospitalizations among the unvaccinated.

Do your part to help. Hospitals are full & the only remedy is for more Arkansans to be vaccinated.”

The Department of Health also reported that an additional 15 people were placed on a ventilator and 42 more Arkansans died due to the virus on Monday.

Arkansas’ current hospital number is 1,220, adding 81 yesterday.

White River Medical Center announced their hospital is at capacity for COVID-19 patients.

The Arkansas State Legislature is set to meet on Wednesday to discuss what action needs to be taken with Act 1002 which bans a mask mandate on state-owned property.

Local school leaders around the area are asking state lawmakers to allow districts to protect themselves when an outbreak occurs in their schools.

We’ll keep you updated tomorrow with what the state legislature’s final decision is.
