
An arrest has been made in a drive-by shooting that occurred in Mammoth Spring on June 19, 2021.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by ECNN, it claims that Mammoth Spring Police Department Officer Jamie Turnbough received a call from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office pertaining to a drive-by shooting that occurred on Main Street by the Mammoth Spring Car Wash.
Officer Turnbough was met by four females that will remain nameless due to security reasons at the scene of the incident.
The females claim that they went to Harps Food Stores in Thayer, MO and a White Yukon followed them up Highway 63 attempting to run them off of the roadway.
Once they crossed into Arkansas, the Yukon continued to pursue them when they turned onto Main Street, then into the Mammoth Spring Car Wash.
The suspect began yelling obscenities at the victims saying “do you want to ******* play?”, pulled out a handgun, but the laser on them, and fired the weapon above the vehicle, then drove away headed back toward Missouri.
After investigating, Officer Turnbough spoke to a city that knew where a vehicle was that matched the description of the car involved in the shooting.
After running the vehicle and the suspect’s name, Officer Turnbough created a lineup where the victims identified the suspect as Richard Atkins of Myrtle, MO.
The victims then identified the vehicle involved in the shooting out of a different lineup.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant for 39-year-old Richard Atkins of Myrtle, MO.
He was taken to the Fulton County Jail where he was released on bond.
