The Arkansas House introduced Bill 1003 to amend the act, but nothing was voted on.
The school district has a fourteen-day COVID-19 infection rate of at least 50 new known infections per 10,000 residents of the public school district based on 5 the most recent data published by the Department of Health or the Arkansas 6 Center for Health Improvement, and the local school board of directors votes on and 8 approves the mandate.
Marion School District in Northeast Arkansas has reported a surge in COVID cases, as well as 730 people that have been quarantined due to close exposure.
The Little Rock School Board has reportedly filed a lawsuit over Act 1002.
