Saturday, August 14, 2021, at approximately 1:19 a.m., First Responders responded to the 1300 Block of Lanton Road with a report of an unresponsive male by the roadway. First Responders located a male subject that was breathing but was heavily intoxicated at the scene. The individual was checked medically and arrangements were made to take the individual to his residence.
As a West Plains Fire Responder was leaving the area in his personal vehicle through a nearby parking lot a second individual that was lying down in a drive was struck by the Fire responder clearing the scene.
The male subject was transported to Ozark Healthcare where he was treated and later released.
The incident is being investigated by the West Plains Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
