More details released in shooting of Sharp County Deputy

In an interview with the Spring River Chronicle, Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts confirmed that the gun which shot a Sheriff’s Deputy was a .357 handgun.

According to a press release from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s Deputy Marc Boyd and a Hardy Police Officer picked up a boy off Highway 175 in Sharp County when an 11-year-old boy pulled out the pistol and shot the deputy in his arm. 

He was taken to the White River Medical Center in Batesville, the juvenile is being held in a juvenile detention facility and Sheriff Mark Counts was unsure of what charges he would face.
The case has been turned over to the 3rd Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Cooper.
