Southern Gospel Picnic starting soon at Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City’s annual Southern Gospel Picnic will be going on August 26 and running through September 6. 

ECNN spoke to Amanda Carson with Silver Dollar City about the upcoming event. 

The concert will feature many well-known southern gospel groups, bands, and quartets. 

Amanda tells us a little more about who the event will feature.

And if you plan on attending the event, she recommends a new restaurant on the square. 

 

Dove-award winners and Grammy nominees alike gather at Silver Dollar City for a spectacular showcase of Southern Gospel music – with the uplifting sounds filling the stages during Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic August 26- September 6. Considered one of America’s premier Southern Gospel events, the festival at the Branson, Missouri theme park features an all-star list of performers from traditional to contemporary.

“Fans of Southern Gospel are excited to be able to get together and celebrate the music they love so much. Southern Gospel Picnic is a homecoming for families around the nation who travel to see these performers live,” says entertainment manager Amanda Carson.

Notable Gospel artists The Whisnants, Booth Brothers and The Isaacs are a few of the many talented artists performing at Southern Gospel Nights, a nightly event held at the 4,000-seat Echo Hollow Amphitheatre. Grammy-nominated artist The Martins, will kick-off the first night of the eleven night special, followed by The favorite family, The Hoppers. All Southern Gospel Nights concerts begin at 6:00pm; seating starts at 4:00pm. Southern Gospel Nights acts include:

A special Sunday worship service at Southern Gospel Picnic with Dr. Dennis Swanberg, an encouraging speaker, comedian, and humorist based out of Texas, and Mark Mathes of Crossway Baptist Church located in Springfield, Missouri. Both worship services will be held at Red and Gold Heritage Hall on the morning of August 29 with Dr. Swanberg and September 5 with Mark Mathes.

Mouthwatering picnic-style foods include the park’s popular House of Chicken & Fixin’s, an all-you-care-to-eat feast featuring an array of gourmet cuisine. Southern-style fried chicken with firecracker and honey barbecue and “fixin’s” ranging from Tuscan green beans & potatoes, chicken pot pie, baked chicken, and rice casserole, to fresh blackberry cobbler.

“Southern Gospel Picnic is a great way to bring together friends and family through food and music. The music is great, but the food is even better. We’ve got a wide variety of foods to choose from and it’s all-you-care-to-eat,” says Sam Hedrick director of food and beverage.
