ACHI claiming “all-time high” number of schools in purple zone

The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement is claiming that the state is seeing an all-time high this week for the number of school districts in the “purple zone” indicating the highest rate of new infections. 

59 Arkansas School Districts have infection rates of 100 or more new known infections per 10,000 district residents over a 14 day period. 

According to ACHI’s latest numbers, most school districts in the area are in the red category. 

The map shows the Salem School District is in yellow, reporting 20-29 cases per 10,000 people. 

Izard County, Hillcrest, Melbourne, Viola, Mountain Home, and Norfork are in the Orange category, meaning they have 30-49 active cases. 

Mammoth Spring, Highland, Cave City, Sloan Hendrix, Maynard, are in the red category, showing 50-99 active cases. 

Finally, Pocahontas, Lawrence County, and Hoxie are all reporting 100 or more active cases and have been placed in the purple category.
