The Former Texas County Sheriff and Deputy began trial on Monday for a case that goes back to 2018.

Former Sheriff, James Sigman, and Deputy Jennifer Tomaszewski are the ones on trial.

Sigman was charged for allowing Tomaszewski to act as an officer when she was not able to do so.

She allegedly also attempted to gain information through the law enforcement database, pointed a loaded weapon at a one-year-old child, attacked a mentally unstable inmate,  and exposed a minor to dangerous criminals and sexually violent offenders.

Court documents also state that the two were romantically involved in a relationship near the time she was hired at the Sheriff’s Office.

After an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the couple now faces charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree harassment, misuse of official information by a public servant, and false impersonation.
