The City of Ravenden had appointed its new mayor after former Mayor Larry Gibbens passed away in early Sept.

It was a story that we brought to you a few weeks ago.

According to the City, they have appointed interim Mayor Tim McComas by a unanimous vote to fulfill the remaining term of the former mayor.

McComas has served as Ravenden Police Chief from June of 2007 to January of 2019 when he left the Police Department to become Chief Deputy of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

McComas is also in his second term as an alderman for the city and the city will appoint someone next month to finish out his vacated term.

ECNN spoke to McComas and he tells us that the appointment as Mayor will not affect his duties as Chief Deputy.

When we asked him about being appointed, he told us:

“I have served the citizens of Ravenden for the last 14 years, and it’s an honor to serve the citizens of Ravenden now as Mayor.”

He also told us that he will serve until the term is up, then plans to run in November of 2022 for the position of Mayor.
