The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an arrest for battery charges for an altercation that occurred on September 13, and charges were filed on Friday.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a scene in reference to a domestic disturbance.
When a deputy arrived on the scene, he approached the victim that was placing her children in a vehicle.
The deputy noted that the victim had a large amount of blood covering her upper body and that her lip was “ripped significantly”.
The victim stated she was inside the residence using the bathroom when her husband, 28-year-old Jeremy Carter, abruptly entered the room and began striking her in the face with her hands.
The victim claimed she did not know what provoked the incident, but that she and Carter had consumed alcohol that evening.
She obtained multiple contusions and abrasions to her facial region, and her most severe was a laceration to her lip/cheek area.
The victim stated that four juvenile children were not involved in the altercation, but were home at the time of the incident.
After coming into contact with Carter, he was placed under arrest and said he took full responsibility.
Carter also stated in an interview that he did not recall striking his wife, but did remember standing in front of his wife who was lying on the bathroom floor crying and bleeding.
He now faces charges for felony 2nd-degree battery. His bond was placed at $12,500.
