Have you experienced a rise in scam calls in the past month? In this ECNN investigation, multiple listeners have called to report a rise in calls, where the person states that your student loan has been paid off, but needs to verify payment information in order to clear your loan status.
Do not fall for this. It IS a scam.
The number usually begins with a 415 area code.
If you are ever placed in a situation where you are forced to give your payment information, it is more than likely a scam.
Arkansas’s Attorney General Leslie Rutledge says you should never give your credit card or banking info away over the phone.
