West Plains EDC holds monthly meeting

The West Plains Economic Development Corporating Board met on Tuesday evening in West Plains to discuss multiple things. 

Notable topics of discussion include David Bossemeyer informing the board that he is continuing to speak to potential Pizza and Mexican restaurants that are considering the former King’s Garden building. 

Bossemeyer also completed training with the International Development Council, which will help focus on economic development and business retention. 

Finally, federal funding is now available to help with the construction of manufacturing facilities with taxi and runway access.

West Plains Economic Development Monthly Meeting

West Plains Economic Development Corporation (WPEDC) held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the West Plains Public Library.

As part of the meeting, West Plains Economic Development Director, David Bossemeyer, provided report on the following topics:

The financial reports were reviewed.  A motion and second was made to accept the financial report.  Motion passed.

Economic Development Director Report:

  • Report from Golden Shovel project with recommendations for video in development was received. Draft production will begin in a couple of weeks. Comments will be received prior to post-production. Approximate cost to EDC is $3,000.00.
  • Bossemeyer informed he continues to speak to potential Pizza and Mexican restaurants. The former King’s Garden building is being considered.
  • Tribble building in Pomona has been potentially leased and/or sold.
  • West Plains Beverage has recently listed their building for sale.
  • Bossemeyer recently completed training with the International Development Council. The training focused on economic development and business retention.
  • Federal funding is now available to help with construction of manufacturing facilities with taxi and runway access.

 

Other business conducted by the Executive Board included: 

  • Committee Updates: No reports were presented.
  • Strategic Plan: Proposal from David Liss was reviewed as well as references received. Members requested Bossemeyer request copy of plan written for City of Nixa. Wilson will provide plan from West Plains R-7. Sample plans from Liss will be reviewed via email and board will vote to contract for development soon.

 

A motion and second were made to go into closed session.  Roll call vote was unanimous to go into closed session.

The West Plains Economic Development Corporation, was formed as a public/private partnership to boost the economic development prospects in the area. The board consists of representatives from the business sector, the community, and the City of West Plains – all of whom will work closely with Dave Bossemeyer on economic development projects for the area.
