The Izard County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man on Oct. 30 for failure to register as a sex offender.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Investigator Tyler Webb and Arkansas Community Corrections Officers Joshua Morehead and Hunter Boles conducted a home visit at the registered residence of 25-year-old Mark Benford.
At that time, it was determined that Benford, either temporarily or permanently, was residing elsewhere.
Around Nov. 3, the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections classified Benford as “absconded” as he had avoided all contact with the department since Oct. 8.
According to the National Crime Information Center, Benford has been found guilty and convicted of at least one prior felony violation, therefore classifying Benford as a habitual offender.
Benford’s bond was set at $10,000.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Office also reports the arrest of a man on the same charge.
According to court documents, on or around Oct. 4, the Sheriff’s Office received a notification from the Arkansas Crime Information Center that 36-year-old Chad Langston, a level 1 sex offender, was delinquent with his residence verification.
Upon receiving the notification, investigator Tyler Webb initiated contact with ACC Officer Cody Gilbert regarding the delinquency notice where Gilbert confirmed it.
Langston’s bond was set at $10,000.
