Ozarks Healthcare releases statement regarding COVID-19 vaccine policy

In light of current events, we have received a few inquiries regarding our policy on COVID-19 vaccination for Ozarks Healthcare employees. To help clarify, want to share the following regarding our policy as it currently stands.
Under the direction of the Biden Administration, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) at the Department of Health and Human Services recently announced the details of its requirement that healthcare workers at facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption. The emergency regulation applies to more than 17 million workers at approximately 76,000 healthcare facilities across the country. To keep serving our community, Ozarks Healthcare must comply with this directive.
As a health system, we have encouraged and will continue to encourage vaccination.
Since we received our first doses of the vaccine nearly one year ago, our physicians have spent an incredible amount of their time educating and encouraging our community about the importance of vaccines. They have done so out of their own research and confidence – not relying on other opinions or sources alone.
Over the next few weeks, we will work through our plan to implement needed steps to comply with the ruling, including provisions for allowable exemptions.
This information will be communicated to our employees directly. Our focus is on our community’s health, and our coworkers are the people behind this focus. We thank our coworkers for their dedication to the well-being of our community and each other.
