Two arrested after digging through trash pile behind Mammoth Spring business

Fulton County authorities arrested two people on drug charges on Monday evening. 

Court documents show that Sheriff’s Deputy Blair Ables located 31-year-old Jackie Meier and 54 yar old Dennis Hutcherson behind Cotham Auction House in Mammoth Spring around 1 am, and due to the rise in thefts across the area, Deputy Ables approached them. 

Ables asked both subjects why they were behind the closed business, and they explained they were digging through the trash pile. 

Upon further investigation, Ables found that Hutcherson is on probation out of Missouri with an active search waiver on file. 

After a search, the Deputy found one clear plastic case on the driver’s side containing one syringe containing a clear liquid, one metal spoon containing residue, and one glass smoking device containing burnt residue. 

Ables also located a large black case between the seats containing three plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance, one large glass smoking device containing burnt residue, and multiply empty plastic baggies used for illegal drug distribution.

The crystalline substance would later test positive for methamphetamine.

Meier and Hutcherson face a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance, meth.

Meier’s bond was set at $1,000, while Hutersons was set at $10,000.
