Independence County Sheriff’s deputy killed in Thursday morning crash

The Independence County Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday morning that a deputy had died after an early morning crash. 

According to fatal crash summaries from the Arkansas State Police, the crash occurred around 12:50 Thursday morning on Highway 14 in Independence County. 

A 29-year-old Deputy, Frank Ramirez, was traveling eastbound when the 2018 Dodge Charger he was driving lost control on a curve. 

The patrol car left the roadway, struck a culvert, then went airborne. The vehicle overturned before coming to rest. 

The Deputy was pronounced dead on the scene, and his body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock. 

In a social media post, the Sheriff’s Office said that Deputy Ramirez was married with two young children.
