Salem, AR Police arrest two on drug charges

The Salem, AR Police Department reports the arrest of a man on drug charges. 

According to a probable cause affidavit, SPD Officer Clayton Everett assisted Arkansas Community Corrections Officer Steve Simers in conducting a home visit at 49-year-old Quentin Griggs’s residence located on Arkansas Highway 395. 

Upon their arrival, Officer Everett observed Griggs standing near a grill on the property. 

As the officer exited his vehicle and was immediately approached by Griggs, who advised of the home visit. 

The officer approached the grill where the two men had been standing. 

Officer Everett immediately observed a plastic box that contained a syringe. 

As the search continued, officers located two syringes and two plastic bags that contained a white crystalline substance. 

A search of the rest of the property revealed a 30-06 New England Arms Rifle laying on a bed inside the residence. 

Everett also discovered a .410 Shotgun in a chicken coop on the property. 

Deputy Jason Jordan with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office searched 49-year-old Joey Griggs, who was a parolee with a search waiver on file, which was on the property at the time.

Jordan discovered a small plastic container with two compartments. 

One compartment contained a clear plastic bag with six round white tablets. 

The second compartment held a clear plastic bag with 13 white round pills. 

The pills were identified as acetaminophen and codeine phosphate, which is a generic version of Tylenol 4 and is a controlled substance. 

During a post-Miranda interview, Quentin Griggs admitted that his brother Joey had gone to the house in order to deliver an amount of methamphetamine. 

Quentin Griggs is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of firearms by certain persons, and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. 

His bond was set at $5,000. 

Joey Griggs now faces charges for felony possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $10,000.
