A man was arrested in Fulton County on Monday on multiple charges.
Court documents show that Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a search warrant at the residence of 52-year-old Phillip Simpson, located within the county.
The search warrant was conducted in search of media and other recording devices in reference to a sexual assault investigation that occurred at Simpson’s residence.
Sheriff’s Deputies observed one plastic baggie containing a white crystalline substance lying on a table by the back door of the residence.
Deputies also observed a shotgun lying near the suspected methamphetamine.
After securing the residence, a second search warrant was applied for to search and seize the illegal drugs.
Once the search continued after obtaining the warrant, Special Agent Johnny Byler with the Drug Task Force located and seized one plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance, one small pile of white crystalline substance lying on a table in the dining room, two notebooks that contained different names and dollar amounts, one Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, multiple plastic baggies, and syringes, one 9mm Taurus handgun in Simpson’s bedroom, one syringe that contained a clear liquid substance, one plastic container holding a baggie that contained a crystalline substance and one baggie that contained thirteen buprenorphine pills, which are a schedule 3 narcotic.
In total, 23 other firearms were located throughout the residence during the search.
Special Agent Byler tested the substance, which all returned a positive test for methamphetamine.
Byler also reviewed Simpson’s criminal history, revealing that he had previously been convicted of a felony.
Simpson is charged with felony simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, felony possession of a controlled substance – meth, felony possession of drug paraphernalia – meth, cocaine, and heroin, felony possession of firearms by certain persons, felony maintaining drug premises, and felony possession of a controlled substance.
His bond was set at $100,000.
