Bibinbe named to AVCA All-American second team
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ruth Manuela Bibinbe, a sophomore middle blocker on the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team, received second team All-American honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The announcement came Wednesday, Dec. 8, by AVCA officials from the organization’s headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky. The selections were made by the AVCA Two-Year College (TYC) Volleyball All-American Selection Committee.
“The AVCA recognizes two-year college players from all TYC sectors – the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association), the CCCAA (California Community College Athletic Association) and the NWAC (Northwest Athletic Conference),” Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said. “I’m very happy for Manu that she was named one of the best players in the country, not just within the NJCAA.”
This past season, Bibinbe, who is from Yaounde, Cameroon, recorded 322 kills (2.39 kills per set) and hit .285. She also had 89 blocks, including 31 solo blocks, and 96 digs.
“These things don’t happen without having great teammates. I know Manu understands that she is being recognized and that this is a reflection of many good things,” Wiedemann said. “The AVCA is a leader in our sport, and I am thankful for the opportunity for TYC athletes to be honored as AVCA All-Americans.”
Forty-two student athletes representing three NJCAA divisions, the NWAC and the CCCAA made the three, 14-member All-American teams for the 2021 fall semester.
